Avascular Necrosis Of Femoral Condyle

Avascular means the loss of blood supply, necrosis means decay. In this condition, either due to injury or some unknown reason, the blood supply to the end of the bone gets reduced or stops, causing death and shrinkage of the affected bone. When this happens, the smooth cartilage overlying this dead bone also gets damaged, leading to incresed wear and tear and arthritis.this is one of the uncommon condition leading to arthritis of knee joint.
