Shoulder

- So called because,
the shoulder is stiff loosing all its movements.
- Common in middle
age, in persons having diabetes.
- May be precipitated
by minor or injury. May start without any cause.
- Causes pain,
stiffness and sleepless nights.
- X-ray usually
does not reveal much.
- MRI or ultrasonography
may reveal rotator cuff partial tears or other soft tissue lesions.
- Treatment is
mainly medical, consisting anti-inflammatory drugs, physiotherapy.
- In some cases
local injection of steroids in the joint by a specialist.
