Frozen Shoulder
  • So called because, the shoulder is stiff loosing all its movements.
  • Common in middle age, in persons having diabetes.
  • May be precipitated by minor or injury. May start without any cause.
  • Causes pain, stiffness and sleepless nights.
  • X-ray usually does not reveal much.
  • MRI or ultrasonography may reveal rotator cuff partial tears or other soft tissue lesions.
  • Treatment is mainly medical, consisting anti-inflammatory drugs, physiotherapy.
  • In some cases local injection of steroids in the joint by a specialist.
