ACETABULUM FRACTURES

Fractures of the acetabulum (hip socket) are among the most difficult fractures to treat. These fractures are classified as simple fractures when the innominate bone is broken in two major pieces, and complex fractures, when the bone is broken into many pieces. These fractures are usually associated with dislocation of the hip joint. The dislocation may either be central or anterior or posterior, depending upon the fracture pattern. To understand the fracture pattern one needs various x-rays and specialised C.T. scan with 3 dimensional reconstruction.

Dr. Thakkar has done a large number of acetabular fracture reconstruction. His expertise is recognised not only in India, but also in other countries. He has conducted training sessions in reconstruction of acetabular fractures in Japan, Taiwan, Bangkok, Singapore, Switzerland and various cities of India.
