| Mechanism of the trigger finger. The swollen part of the tendon is reluctant to enter the constricted mouth of the fibrous sheath when an attempt is made to extend the finger. When sufficient force is exerted it enters with a snap. The thickening forms a palpable nodule at the base of the finger. |
